SPRING ART CLASSES

Saturdays for kids & adults / Tuesday Evenings for adults

Parent or guardian is required to stay with their child 12 years and under​

Registration is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome

  • April 1st: Color Theory  2:00 to 4:00

    • Instructor: Jen Brakefield

    • Ages 17 and up, Class limit 8 to 10

    • $10 per person

    • Materials: Bring a sketchbook, pencil, and eraser, all other materials will be provided

Exploring color is imperative to artists. Beginners and intermediate artists will investigate the foundations in the properties and interactions of color. We will cover the science and structures of color, color relationships as well as the properties of color.

  • April 22nd: Nature Captured in a Notebook  2:00 to 4:00 

    • REGISTER AT GALLERY

       Instructor: Gary Raham

    • Ages 13 and up, Class limit 8 to 10

    • $10 per person

    • Materials will be provided

Learn how to create a naturalist’s notebook using words and drawings to observe bugs, blooms, landscapes, and other aspects of the living world. See, smell, touch, measure and explore nature in all its forms and sizes under the guidance of a scientific illustrator, Gary. Once captured in a notebook, drawings and written observations provide a lasting record of adventure and discovery.

  • April 29th:  Shapes and Shadows: fun with paper mosaics  2:00 to 4:00

    • Ages 8 to 12, Class limit 8 to 10

    • $10 per person

    • Materials will be provided

Come learn how to break a photo of an animal into simple shapes and values.  Use paper, product packages, and magazine pages, (recycled materials) to fill in the shapes to create a unique 5"x7" mosaic to take home.

  • May 6th: The Art of Flowers with Color Pencils  12:00 to 2:00

A flower can be a dynamic inspiration for creating art. We will learn the basics for drawing with color pencils, steps to follow in order to draw certain flowers and their symbolic meanings.

  • May 13th: Drawing Birds: Observe, Sketch, Identify  2:00 to 4:00

    • Ages 13 to 17, Class limit 8 to 10 

    • $10 per person

Animals have unique structures and coverings. In this class, we’ll study bird photos, examine their forms, feathers, feet, eye placement and beaks and learn how to draw them.  

 

  • May 27th: Intro to Print Making - Monoprinting 

    • REGISTER AT GALLERY

    • Instructor: Scott Lenaway

    • Ages 8 & up,  Class limit 8 to 10

    • $10.00

    • Materials: leaf or other flat items, all other materials will be provided

    • Wear old clothes

Learn to make monoprints with nontoxic paint and household items like rolling pins and wooden spoons. Take a unique print home.

  • April 11th: Classic Wire Wrapping Pendant

This fun class will teach the basics needed to enjoy wire wrapping cabochons, coins and anything else you might want to try.  This style of wire wrapping is minimalistic and allows the stone to be the focal of your pendant.  You will learn about the types of wire, tool selection and use, stone selection and orientation, and the skills to create beautiful pendants like the pros.

The class is taught using a non-tarnish silver plated wire in silver, copper, bronze or antique silver.

 

If you prefer to wrap in sterling silver, please let me know and I will quote the difference.

Chains are available for purchase after the class.

  • May 9th: Wire Wrapped Copper/Leather Cuff

This is a beginner’s class where we’ll wrap a copper cuff with either leather or microfiber and add a wire wrapping application to the top. These bracelets are super comfortable and very casual. You will learn some basic wire wrapping skills, and learn about the types of wire, tool selection and some forging.

  • May 23rd: Wire Wrapped Pendant with Drop Beads

In this class, you will learn my way of classic wire wrapping which is minimalistic and allows the beauty of the stone for be the focal point. The class is taught using a non-tarnish silver plated wire in silver, copper, bronze or antique silver.

 

This pendant will include a tassel of beads and looks great with a longer chain. 

 

If you prefer to wrap your pendant in sterling silver or fine silver, please let me know and I will provide a quote for the difference in cost.

 

Chains are available for an additional cost.
