BRIAN CARROLL

I am a long time decoy /bird carver and began sculpting these unique pieces of wood about seven years ago.

The piece below is entitled "FREE" and is sculpted (not carved) from 1000 year old West Texas Juniper from a ranch next to the Chisolm Ranch bear Lubbock Texas - who drove his cattle from Texas along the Chisolm Trail through Colorado and into Montana.

The wood is tight grained and is polished not shellacked.  The base is alabaster from the same ranch. The caribou antlers represent a canyon that the eagle is flying through.

Lines and plains sculpted into the wood and alabaster contribute to the sense of movement.
