NORMAN GROCHOWSKI

Raised in the Military. Lived on Guam island 2 years after WW2 then moved to several different States in the US while growing up.

Moved to Norfolk Virginia which in the early1950's had segregated schools. A few years later, when I was in 8th grade, my father was transferred to a Naval base in Alameda California where schools were integrated.  

I learned early on that adults can be racist or open minded or, to put it better they can dwell in darkness or in the light. I incorporated many of these ideas into my art works later on. 

I saw many wonderful scenes while growing up in the 50's and 60's that stayed with me as short clips of video in my memory.

Graduated high school in Milwaukee Wisc. Then attended Art School for 3 years and went back to traveling, doing it the real way, Hitch-hiking around Europe and North Africa and working on ships as a Merchant Marine, drawing and painting as I went.  

Finally settled in Venice Calif. and began getting my work shown in Museum shows both National and International. Obtained several public commissions for sculpture and still creating art to this day.
