LYDIA AUGUSTINE

Lydia Augustine

Before arriving in Fort Collins, Lydia was a musician, Yoga, T’Chi and Zumba instructor.

She was born with a fascination for color that continued into her adult years, accumulating an extensive collection of Crayola crayons long before adult coloring was in vogue.

Living in Colorado inspire her to reinvent herself as a full-time artist, recognizing basic elements of design found everywhere in nature. Lydia began with art quilts, then developed the concept of “Fabricated Canvas” using a variety of fabrics laid on canvas.

This technique has the advantage of dramatic color density in a form that is easy to display. Her favorite media is Batik, uniquely dyed fabric.

Lydia’s joy in what she does is exemplified by her favorite statement,

“Earth without art is just—”eh”!”
