CHERRIE THORNTON
Artist & Photographer
I got my first camera when I was 12 and have been creating visual images ever since - first with snapshots of people and nature - then, as an adult, adding travel photos to my focus.
In the 1970s I started painting - primarily landscapes in oils. I enjoyed recreating my photos on canvas, as a way to express my memory of being in a particular place as well as to create a piece art. Upon retirement I discovered acrylics and have enjoyed the bright colors (as well as the fast drying time).
My desire in my work is to offer a visual experience that captures a person’s interest, maybe tells a story and is uplifting in spirit.
